Seniors Action Quebec Hosts One Voice Coalition Annual Retreat

Published on March 16, 2026

On Wednesday, March 18, 2026, members of the One Voice Coalition will gather for their annual priority-setting retreat. Organized by Coalition co-stewards Seniors Action Quebec and the Community Health and Social Services Network (CHSSN), the retreat will be facilitated by consultant Michelle Holliday.

The retreat will bring together representatives from more than fifteen organizations serving seniors across the Island of Montreal to forge vital pathways for collaboration, coordinated action, and resource sharing — all in support of Quebec's growing seniors' population.

Member organizations of the One Voice Coalition include: Almage Community Centre 50+, Assistance and Referral Centre, Catholic Action Montréal Centre, St-Antoine 50+ Community Centre, Contactivity Centre, Cummings Centre, The English-Speaking Catholic Council, Eva Marsden Centre, Extra Miles Senior Visiting Program, Gay and Grey Montréal, LaSalle D&D 50+ Centre, McGill Community for Lifelong Learning, New Hope Senior Citizens' Centre, Talking. Advocating. Living in Québec, The East Island Network for English Language Services, Pastoral Home Care (Service d’accompagnement spirituel des personnes malades ou âgées à domicile), South Shore Community Partners Network, WIN Intergenerational Network, The Yellow Door, South Shore Literacy Council.

Founded in 2019 by the English-Speaking Catholic Council (ESCC) and Catholic Action Montreal (CAM) with a mandate to improve access to healthcare and reduce social isolation among English-speaking seniors, the One Voice Coalition grew significantly in both size and momentum during the pandemic, as the vulnerabilities of senior care came into sharp focus. Following the pandemic, co-stewardship transitioned to Seniors Action Quebec and CHSSN in 2022, who led a process of collective reflection that shaped the Coalition's current mission, principles, and vision. The Coalition has continued to evolve through 2026, guided by all member organizations in a spirit of partnership and shared responsibility.

"Leadership, staff, and organizational changes have taken place at most Coalition member organizations recently, making this gathering a critical opportunity to connect, reflect, and envision meaningful common goals for the future," said Paulina Abarca-Cantin, Executive Director of Seniors Action Quebec. "The demographic, economic, and social shifts ahead will pose real challenges for our communities. Effective collaboration will be essential."

The retreat will be held at Seniors Action Quebec and will open with remarks from Laurent Saint-Jacques, Community Development Advisor at the Secrétariat des relations avec les Québécois d'expression anglaise (SRQEA).
