Leslie (Laszlo) Acs possesses many years of diverse management and human resources experience in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors for multiple industries. His specialties include: leadership and team building; workforce development and optimization; motivation and engagement; recruitment and retention; project management and mature workers career services.
Mr. Acs holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Bishop’s University. While studying for his Master of Science in Management at HEC Montreal, his research interest focused on the relationship between organizational performance and the work environment.
In 2007, Mr. Acs participated in the La Passerelle program where he embarked on a career change. For several years, he played an active role as a volunteer at La Passerelle, and in 2011, he returned as the Executive Director. La Passerelle is an employment and career transition center for mature workers 40 years plus. As part of his role at La Passerelle, Mr. Acs is constantly searching for new ways to assist mature workers’ re-entry into the workforce and to promote public awareness of the effects of ageism in the workplace. Community engagement has always been important for Mr. Acs. He has been actively involved with several community organizations, serving in various capacities.
Mr. Acs serves as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Community Economic Development and Employability Corporation (CEDEC). CEDEC helps communities achieve economic success, taking economic development initiatives from idea, to action, to sustainable results. CEDEC combines economic development and collaborative theory and practice to deliver measurable economic benefits and results.

An eternal student who seems to often choose the path less traveled. Megan envisioned a career as an international businesswoman obtaining a degree in International Business picturing a jet setting career. she travelled around Europe while obtaining a couple of law degrees before moving back to Canada for another law degree and certification as a Canadian Risk Manager. Megan worked in the technology sector for 10 years before deciding to open her own non-profit organization, Kigi Agency, a province-wide online platform where people 55 years and older can find part-time, occasional, volunteer or short-term work across Quebec. Ms. Marinos continues to work as a consultant for other start-up businesses and volunteering. Megan is passionate about gourmet cooking, wine tasting, walking and learning constantly.

Solange completed her undergraduate studies in philosophy and gerontology. She has more than nine years’ experience working as a counsellor, clinical supervisor, trainer and coordinator at Groupe Harmonie, a Montreal-based community organization helping people aged 55 years and over who struggle with addictions. She is currently working as a research coordinator at Laval University (Quebec City) and developing her practice as a specialized therapist in Geriatric Addiction.
Dr Blanca Vacaflor
Dr Vacaflor completed a bachelor’s degree in psychology and her medical studies at Université de Montréal. She completed residency in Psychiatry at McGill University, and is currently pursuing subspecialty training in Geriatric Psychiatry at the University of British Columbia. She has published on the topic of cannabis use in older adults and continues to harbor special interest in the growing field of Geriatric Addiction.

The presenters will be discussing the physical & psychological aspects of what you may be experiencing. You will hear of treatment that can be done from the safety of your homes.
Dr. Wendy Chiu is a Geriatric Medicine specialist at the MUHC - Montreal General Hospital. She is a graduate of the McGill Faculty of Medicine and completed residency training at McGill and the University of Toronto. Her work mostly involves multidisciplinary assessment and rehabilitation of the "frail elderly" via MGH Geriatric Day Hospital, which has the mandate of assisting "frail" seniors to live in the community for as long and as safely & independently as possible, with emphasis on patient & caregiver quality of life. She also teaches at the McGill Faculty of Medicine and has been a hands-on primary caregiver herself to family members with severe physical disability and memory loss.
Dr. Soham Rej is a Geriatric Psychiatrist and Assistant Professor at the Jewish General Hospital/Lady Davis Institute, McGill University, Montreal, Canada. His team is currently running a Telehealth Intervention Program for Older Adults (TIP-OA). The program provides weekly friendly phone calls from trained volunteers during and post-Covid: http://www.telehealthmontreal.ca/index.html. Dr. Rej’s Geri-PARTy lab also conducts clinical trials of behavioral interventions (e.g. mindfulness, meditation, tai chi, yoga, exercise, health education, virtual reality) in late-life mood, anxiety, and cognitive disorders (e.g. dementia).
Dr. Paola Lavin Gonzales, Research Associate, is a medical doctor who specializes in clinical research. She is a research associate at the Lady Davis Research Institute and the Douglas Hospital in Montreal. Her work focuses on mental health and novel lines of research in digital psychiatry. She is currently co-leading with a group of researchers and clinicians the Telehealth Intervention Program for Older Adults at the Jewish General Hospital.
